Children's Privacy
Bramble has no child accounts
There is one kind of account in Bramble and it belongs to a parent. There are no child profiles, no per-child settings, and nowhere to enter a child's name or age. This is a design decision, not a setting that could be changed later without rebuilding the product.
What the device sends us
Bramble runs on a streaming device — a Chromecast with Google TV, or another Google TV / Android TV device — connected to your television. Below, "the device" means that streaming device, and "your television" means the screen it is connected to.
The device identifies itself with a random identifier it creates for itself. It uses that to ask two questions: does this household have a subscription, and which shows did the parent approve. It also stores the theme chosen on that device.
That is the whole of it. The identifier is not linked to anything about a person, it is not used for advertising, and it is not shared.
What the device never sends
It does not send who is watching, what was watched, how long anything played, or anything typed on the device.
There are two places to type on the device, and nothing typed in either one is sent to us or leaves the device. The Search page filters the show list you already approved — you spell out a title with the remote on an on-screen keyboard (the device's system keyboard is not used); what you type only narrows what is shown, is discarded the moment you leave the page, and is never stored or transmitted. The number pad that guards Settings lets you set a PIN; that PIN is kept only on that device and is never sent to us.
The app on the device contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or attribution software of any kind.
Ratings are a parent's opinion, not an observation of a child
Parents can rate a show on the website. The question asks a parent how a show landed for their child, and what gets stored is two numbers and which show they are about. Nothing about the child is stored, and ratings cannot be entered from the device.
Questions, or deleting what we hold
You can delete your account and everything attached to it from your account settings at any time.
